MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

zac-mission-accomplished.jpg

Hey all!

This is a joint post from Audrey and Dee detailing the chronicles of our trip to Santa Monica to see if we couldn’t get up close andpersonal with Zac Efron! Enjoy (thankyouthankyouthankyou to everyone who channeled him to us!)

1/11/07, 12:07am:

Audrey here…

So, I just finished writing the ZA Angels letter to Zac. Below are the pics. What the card reads:

Dear Zac,

We’re just your average group of friends who have been able to connect, share, and laugh, and develop lasting friendships spanning across the entire globe due to our common interest in you and Vanessa’s work. (hence the name ZA Angels!)

Thank you for the memories, the entertainment, and most of all for each other whom we otherwise never would have found in this vast world.

Here’s looking to a promising 2008! We’ll be in the stands, cheering you along!

Sincerely,

The ZA Angels

1/11/08, 1:15pm:

Dee arrives at my apartment. She parked at the back of the complex, and I was at the front. We literally had a “Clueless” moment where we walked toward each other on the phone. We finally meet at the mailboxes and hug like we’re old friends!

 1:40pm:

We had a really fun time listening to ‘V’ and HSM2 songs while talking about what we’d do if we met or saw Zac. We get lost, pull over, and ask a school crossing guard how to get to Santa Monica HS.

1:55pm:

We start freaking out as we drive around the school and see movie trailers, catering vans, and lighting equipment. Now we’re just trying to figure out a way to get in, since all entrances were blocked, locked, or being guarded by security! After failing to get into a secure lot (we lied saying that I was dropping Dee off for a P.T.A meeting, haha!) we decided just to park on the street and set off on foot.

2:00pm:

We start feeling the energy coming from the rooftop. Thanks guys for that MOZ (refer to ZA dictionary) we said to channel at 2pm on the dot. It must have worked, because we went to a side gate and low and behold- here comes Michelle Trachtenberg and Seth Green taking a cigarette break! We had asked a student earlier where filming was taking place. Today they were shooting scenes in the cafeteria. Dee suggested I make friends with the kitchen staff and find a way in through the back entrance. I chickened out (for a 2nd time now!) After hanging around Michelle and Seth for a second, we decided to further investigate and weigh our options.

2:30pm:

Yellow security guard jacket, 10 o’clock! “Hey c’mere!” Dee and I start chatting up the guard. We can see over a hillside that there’s crew, wardrobe and extra’s mingling around the cafeteria area. He denies us any access, and actually questions if we’re paparazzi! I respond with “We’re too cute to be paparazzi!” Guys wheeling in spools of cords (giving us dirty looks although they were the ones in Grey’s Anatomy tee’s) have us move aside to open the gates. We stick around here a few more minutes before walking around toward the soccer field.

2:40pm:

We’re still walking…

2:50pm:

By this point we’re wondering “Damnit! Where do people get to the soccer field?!?!” We consider scaling the walls, ala paparazzi-style (ps, we did see a possible pap on a motorcycle looking around) but decide our best option is to say we’re here for the soccer game. Who knew this simple stretch of the truth would further us along toward our goal!

(At this point you may be asking a few questions, such as a) why didn’t we just tell the truth b) when the hell are you going to get to the good part, or c) I can’t believe these guys actually saw him) Moving along…

3:00pm:

Audrey has to go to the bathroom, which proves to be our saving grace. A wonderful saint in the form of a student lead us literally to the same building as the cafeteria. She also pointed out a teacher who would be featured in the film and gave us a head’s up (that we cannot confirm or deny) that Kevin Spacey is also attached to the film.

We’re in the bathroom, freaking out, but confident that we’re within reach. We can hear Alicia Keys music blaring from the cafeteria (literally, the walls were kind of shaking- we were so close!) As we head outside, we see the perfect spot to set up camp. We decide on the bleachers, which happen to have the best view of the back portion of the cafeteria, and seems to be where all the extras are hanging out as they wait to be called in for filming.

3:30pm:

Sit and wait

4:00pm:

Sitting and waiting as the fog rolls in. Audrey starts wishing she’d worn warmer clothes. At this point, a blond spiky haired boy walks out in a letter jacket. Dee is convinced Zac has dyed his hair and that we are looking at him chatting away on his iphone. Negative.

4:30pm:

Everybody but Zac has come and gone out of the cafeteria including Michelle and Seth, several times. At this point we decide that before hypothermia sets in, we’ll stick it out to 5pm. If Zac’s a no-show by that time, we’ll sadly collect our belongings and call it a day.

4:55pm:

Audrey gets a phone call from a friend and takes it. We’re pretty sure this is the saving grace that kept us there until…..

5:07pm (????? who knows, time may have actually stood still!):

Audrey is still on the phone when I hear Dee let out what can only be described as a 1/2 sigh, 1/2 yelp, part whimper that lets me know this is it. Zac is here. Here’s what goes down, play by play:

-Zac walks out of the cafeteria doors basketball in hand (like Troy!) and sits down by himself at a vacant picnic table.

-Zac is at this point 30 feet away from us. We’re feeling overwhelmed, a little cold, and in utter shock. We remember to grab our cameras and start pointing and clicking.

-Zac stands up and in his signature ‘arm crossing pose’ shakes hands with an unknown female and male. Zac (who by the way looks just as hot in person as in print and tv) poses for some pics on her camera phone, and yes he slides his arm around her waist. *THUD*

-As we’re clicking and watching his every movement, the fates smile down upon us and Zac turns around and looks right at us. That’s right, you heard it here first, we shared a moment of eye-sex (okay, maybe not, just eye contact but in our minds we swore it was major eye-sex occurring)

 set-6.jpg  set-7.jpg

Sadly, it was night time and only extras and people involved with the film were around. Without passes, we were beginning to overstay our welcome. But not before we watched Zac pick up his basketball and head back inside the cafeteria for more filming. On our way out we hear someone yell “Last shot!” It turns out this was the last weekend of filming (the security guard we told the PTA lie to divulged this info to us).Lastly, we pulled some person aside wearing one of the orange ‘17? badges we’d seen all day long and nicely asked if he would deliver our letter to Zac if given the chance. He looked kind of suspicious, so it may not ever get to him, but we had to try.

7:00pm:

As we sit here writing this post together, we wish that all of you could have shared the experience we had today. You were there with us in spirit (Audrey even emailed Ellie while we waited with the extras) and we know deep down inside that you brought Zac outside to us. Thank you and we hope you enjoy the pictures!!!!

-Audrey and Dee
